Project Management

Project management is the discipline of planning, organising, securing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of a specific installation or integration project goals and objectives.

The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the engineering project goals and objectives while honouring the preconceived project constraints. The secondary and more ambitious challenge is to optimize the allocation and integration of all inputs necessary to meet pre-defined objectives. There are a number of approaches to managing project activities including agile, interactive, incremental, and phased approaches. Regardless of the methodology employed, Diamond Electronic Systems Ltd acknowledges that careful consideration must be given to the overall project objectives, timeline, and cost, as well as the roles and responsibilities of all participants and stakeholders.

Diamond Electronic Systems Ltd also accepts that like any human undertaking, projects need to be performed and delivered under certain constraints. Traditionally, these constraints have been listed as time, scope and cost; also often referred to as the ‘Project Management Triangle’ where each side represents a constraint. In essence one side of the triangle cannot be changed without affecting the others. A further refinement of the constraints separates product ‘quality’ or ‘performance’ from scope and turns quality into a fourth constraint.

By using a simple methodology, each process can be specified with its key inputs and outputs and with specific goals and activities that need to be carried out. This effectively allows for automatic control of any deviations from the plan.
